Alright guys, this week we have been focusing on what guys want from their wives. Check out this week’s podcast @ https://www.noregretz.org/marriage-podcast/episode/306cdb4f/what-men-want-in-marriage. You might have needs that differ from what we talked about, but I am pretty sure we listed some of yours. Now, let me tell you the secret to make the odds better for you to have those needs and desires met by your wife. It’s simple – love your wife the way that Jesus would.
In Ephesians 5:25 (The Voice) Paul gives us this command: Husbands, you must love your wives so deeply, purely, and sacrificially that we can understand it only when we compare it to the love the Anointed One has for His bride, the church. Guys, we need to look to Jesus as our example. We need to choose to love our wives deeply, purely, and sacrificially. Whether they are loving us and meeting our desires the way we want or not, God has called us to take the initiative. That’s what God did; He took the initiative. We love because He first loved us. 1 John 4:19, ESV. As husbands we are called to set the pace in our marriage and that starts with choosing to love our wife.

I believe that God created women to respond to the love of their husband in the way we respond to God loving us first. We respond to God’s love with our love, but remember He is the initiator. We love our wives like Jesus would by putting their needs ahead of our own. We love like Jesus when we sacrifice our desires so that we can fulfill her desires. I believe when a husband chooses to love his wife that way, she will respond in a way that meets our needs and desires. When you see this reciprocal love in a marriage it is beautiful.
I know some of you may be thinking, “What if she doesn’t respond by loving me the way I need?” Keep on loving her in the way that God calls us to. God doesn’t stop loving us when we don’t respond. Neither should we. We can be obedient to God and trust Him to change her heart. Only God can change a person’s heart. Our responsibility is to pray, trust God, and keep on loving! Don’t give up!
